The magazine covers various aspects of multicultural education, including but not limited to educational equity, inclusive teaching strategies, cross-cultural competence development, language diversity, immigration and refugee education, and curriculum development in multicultural contexts. The magazine pays special attention to how to promote the needs of students from different cultural backgrounds in the education system, and how to reduce cultural bias and discrimination through education.

The Journal of Multicultural Education encourages the use of interdisciplinary research methods, combining the perspectives of education, sociology, psychology, anthropology, and other disciplines to analyze various phenomena of multicultural education. The types of articles published in magazines are diverse, including original research, reviews, case studies, policy analysis, and book reviews.
