The "Al Jamiah Journal of Islamic Studies" has been published by the Al Jami'ah Research Center of the National Islamic University of Yogyakarta since 1962, and can be said to be the oldest academic journal in Southeast Asia on this topic. This course covers textual and field research from multiple perspectives including law, philosophy, mysticism, history, art, theology, and more. At first, the magazine only served as an academic forum for lecturers and professors at the National Institute of Islamic Studies. However, due to later developments and a wider readership, the journal successfully invited scholars and researchers outside of the research institute to submit articles. Therefore, Indonesian and non Indonesian scholars have enriched the research published in the journal. Although AlJamiah did not publish high-quality academic articles from the beginning, improvements in format, style, and academic quality have never stopped. Now, through articles written in Arabic and English, as well as a fair peer review process, AlJamiah continues to publish research on various dimensions and methods related to Islamic studies.

The Al Jamiah journal of Islamic Studies is published twice a year, always placing Islam and Muslims at the center of academic research, and inviting comprehensive observations of Islam as a theological belief and social system, as well as Muslims as those who practice religion from multiple perspectives. This magazine serves as a forum to study Islam in Indonesia and other parts of the world in a local and challenging global context, supporting focused research on specific topics and interdisciplinary studies. AlJamiah has become a medium for disseminating and exchanging ideas and research results, to the point where researchers, writers, and readers from different learning traditions interact in an academic manner.
