The Evolutionary and Institutional Economics Review aims to provide an international forum for new theories and empirical research methods in evolutionary and institutional economics. It breaks away from the views of equilibrium economics and methodological individualism, and faces the diversity of human behavior and the dynamic transformation of institutions. Here, the concept of "economics" is widely used, covering classic research fields such as economic history, economic thought, economic theory, and management science, as well as emerging research fields such as economic sociology, bioeconomics, evolutionary game theory, agent-based modeling, complex systems research, economic physics, and experimental economics.

The journal firmly believes that the study of the dynamic processes driving socio-economic change requires a truly interdisciplinary discussion, as institutions, as emerging outcomes of human behavior, hold significant importance. Although it is the official journal of the Japanese Society for Evolutionary Economics, non member submissions from around the world are also welcome. All submissions are reviewed under strict scientific standards, but the journal does not adopt a single formalistic measurement standard. Because evolution and diversity complement each other, which is also the spirit of this journal.
